We use a variety of materials when sculpting our bases, from plasticard, to wood, to epoxy resins. Our bamboo bases were made by actually lathing tiny sticks to get the looks just right. We found that there was no other way to create bamboo accurately to scale. Four out of five times the sticks would break and we would have to start again. Once we had enough bamboo pieces, we could then gang them together, make a mold, and then we could use them to fit into the bases. They were some of the most time intensive sculpts we have done for bases.
